The Agave Macroacantha is a beautiful medium-sized Agave.
Tight symmetrical rosettes of narrow pale Blue-Green leaves are sword shaped, very uniform in shape and outwardly spreading.
Each leaf has large dark brown irregularly spaced marginal teeth and a 1 inch long Chestnut Brown terminal spine, so probably better planting them away from walkways to avoid any spikey accidents!
Slow growing, although after time it can form a colony with many offsets, some producing a short stem. Flowering when mature, usually after around 15 years the main plant dies but there are plenty of offsets to take its place. The flowers themselves are purple tinged in dense clusters produced on tall spike around 2m high.
Awarded the RHS Award For Garden Merit it is perfect for exotic gardens, it's bold silhouette making a wonderful architectural centrepiece.
Please Note: Succulents change colour throughout the year and the plants we deliver can look different from the pictures. All plants are shipped bare root (without soil).
